On the 29th of May, some of our Year 10 leaders Jonathan Israel, Vanie Barcelon, Alyssa Willis, Lachlan Watson, Kiera Everingham, Micah Fernandez, Jordan Ferry, Selenna Fuimaono and Katalina Vave with Ms Juarez and Mr Jadrijevic attended the World Vision Conference held at the Big Top Luna Park.

St Agnes have continued to participate in the 40 Hour Famine for many years now and it is through the commitment of our students that we can bring these opportunities for social justice to our students.

Here are two experiences shared by our student leaders: “Being in a room filled with 1,000 passionate students from different schools was truly amazing. We heard from such motivational great speakers who were reluctant to share their story of hardship with us. I have learned so much about the refugee crisis and how, as a community can be a whole and help those who are suffering. We were also informed about the 40 Hour Famine Backpack Challenge which will be held this August. This is a challenge I look forward to and I hope everyone from our school community will participate as well. This event was such an amazing experience. I am willing to share my story with others, and create a movement together.” - Vanie Barcelon (School Captain)

“The World Vision Youth Conference was a remarkable experience for the student leaders and World Vision Coordinators! The activities and talks that we received throughout the day were mesmerising. As student leaders and staff, we were able to prepare for the 40 hour famine backpack challenge this year! Special thanks to the other teachers and students involved. This was an enjoyable eye-opening experience of a lifetime!” - Jonathan Israel (School Captain)
