St Agnes Turns Yellow
14 Jul 2017

On June 16 St Agnes hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea to help raise funds for the Cancer Council.
This cause has always been an important one for our community, because cancer affects many people, and some are our family and friends. According to the Cancer Council, it is the leading cause of death in Australia and 134,000 people are estimated to be diagnosed with the disease this year. To help make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer, our school community turned yellow to fundraise for the event.
In the weeks leading up to the morning tea, our incredible Event leaders spent many lunch times preparing for the day. Every morning they went around to homerooms asking for cake donations, and each morning they received astronomical support from their peers and teachers, who offered to contribute to our cake stall.
On the day, the leaders decorated the school in yellow, set up the photo booth, and put up the ‘kiss cancer goodbye’ poster they created with Miss Valleri. They also assisted in coordinating the school photo, organising each year group, to form the word ‘HOPE. Our biggest morning tea was a success, with St Agnes raising $1,467.70 for the Cancer Council. The school goal was to raise $1,000 so we were ecstatic when we exceeded all expectations.

๐๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ค - carrying a bucket of water to raise awareness for those around the world who face water scarcity daily. This walk allowed us to reflect on the hardships many brothers and sisters face just to access "clean" water-- something we often take for granted every day. It was a small step with a big message; we are called to serve others with love and compassion, and to pray for a world where everyone has access to safe, clean water.
