NSW Premier Cricket: Luke Dempsey hits 13 sixes - five in one over - in grade century for Parramatta Sydney cricketer Luke Dempsey scored his last first grade century eight long years ago. Now he's scored one of the most extraordinary tons ever seen.
Maybe it was the decision to eat breakfast for a change but something inspired this Sydney grade veteran to one of the most extraordinary performances of the NSW Premier Cricket season on the weekend.
On Saturday Sydney schoolteacher Luke Dempsey headed out to the crease for Parramatta in first grade with hopes of a strong performance.
He left it with an astonishing feat that has the grade cricket world abuzz.
In only his second first grade century ever, Luke Dempsey hit 13 sixes in his 105 off 45 balls - including five in one over.
"To be fair, it was good fun," said the St Agnus Rooty Hill maths and PE teacher.
Teammate Nick Bertus took a single off the first ball of the 24th over then Dempsey hit the last five each for six at the Old Kings oval.
“I play my 150th grade game next week so I was probably due something," he said.
"I missed the game before with injury and I've been trying to work out if I will play on or give it up.
"Maybe thinking about maybe not playing next year took the stress off me. I haven't made a decision yet but I'm in the process.
To be honest it was all a bit of a shock. It happened so fast. It didn't really sink in until yesterday. It was a bizarre 45 minutes to an hour. I'm still trying to work out what happened.
Dempsey's runs in Parramatta's bonus point win over the Blacktown Mounties came off 44 legal balls plus a no ball he hit for six and four wides.

🧵👩🍳 TEXTILES UPDATE! 👨🍳🧵 Our talented Year 7 Textiles students have been hard at work designing and making aprons as part of their latest project! 🎨✂️ The design brief challenged them to create an apron suitable as PPE for use in the kitchen – a practical and creative task that required them to follow the full Design Process, from initial ideas through to evaluation. While most of the class is nearly there, three students have already finished their aprons right on time – check out their amazing work in the photos attached! 👏👏👏 These aprons won’t just sit on a hanger – they’ll be put to good use in Year 8 Food Tech next year! 🍳🥗 So proud of the effort and creativity shown by all students so far – can’t wait to see the rest completed! 💙

Students from the ACU Ubuntu program attended the ACU Blacktown Campus. They have engaged in an 8 week academic skills program to support them with successfully accessing the ACU Step Up Program next year. Congratulations Savannah Tofaeono on your selection for the Australian Schoolgirls Rugby League Trials taking place in Townsville. Savannah is one of St Agnes’ very own talented Rugby League players. Her progress over the past few years has been incredible, and what she has accomplished in the world of Rugby League is truly inspiring. Savannah’s accomplishments on the field are impressive. She has been a key player for the St Agnes Rugby League team in the Panther Trophy competition over the past few years. Last season, she played a major role in helping our U16s girls team win the tournament despite playing one player short in every game, all while she was just 15 years old. This year, Savannah has participated in several representative trials, earning selection for the Parramatta Diocese team and subsequently the NSWCCC side. 🧱 Year 12 Construction – Concreting in Action! On 5 June, our Year 12 Construction students at St Agnes Catholic High School rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on with a concreting project for the school garden beds. As part of their Set in Stone unit, students applied skills from their coursework—measuring, levelling, and pouring concrete—to create slabs that will be used by the Environmental Committee. The weather held out, and the teamwork was fantastic. A great example of classroom learning coming to life!
