Kokoda Memorial Track Excursion
14 Jul 2017
Year Nine recently had an exiting time at an excursion to the Kokoda Memorial Track.
On this excursion we all followed a guide who gave us an insight about war, particularly during WWII. We all were granted a greater understanding, not only, of that time but also of the impact on average people during this time.
We listened to the veterans talk about fathers, brothers, friends, and family whom suffered in the war. This excursion, in my opinion, was amazing. We all took away different pieces of these heroes life and collectively our Year groups are better educated about this topic, through the stories, displays, and informative discussion.
We got to interact, ask questions, and listen to some of the most inspirational and informative people in our community.
Two things I took away from this excursion was how horrible war and WWII especially, was that every day people usually ignored or walked past are some of the bravest people in our society.
One thing I will always remember now more than ever is that we have a future because of these men, and so we must be grateful and look after what we have. We also need to need to remember their sacrifices.

Students selected a cultural group, other than their own, that has immigrated to Australia and investigated the historical, social, and culinary factors that define the groupโs food identity. They then analysed the influence this culture has had on Australian cuisine and prepared an authentic dish representing their chosen group. ๐ฉโ๐ณ๐ฅ It was wonderful to see the studentsโ creativity, research skills, and cultural appreciation showcased through such a variety of delicious dishes! ๐โจ

Last year St Agnes Catholic High School was proud to represent our community at the Together For Humanity fundraising event, hosted by journalist and TFH Board Director Ally Langdon. Our student leaders Annilya Albin, Austin Menolotto, Alex Newell and Angela Younan joined Mrs Hayley Dwyer on a panel discussing the impact of school-based programs that foster inclusivity, intercultural understanding, and acceptance of difference. The students spoke with maturity, confidence, and heart about the importance of challenging stereotypes and embracing diversity within our school community. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented St Agnes on a state level..They were honoured to be joined by Members of Parliament, including Mark Coure, Natalie Ward, Julia Finn, Andrew Bragg, Tina Ayyad and Jihad Dib, demonstrating bipartisan support for this important work. #TogetherForHumanity #StAgnesCHS #Inclusivity #StudentLeadership #Harmony #Diversity
