On Monday 8 February 2016 the official launch of Caritas Australia’s 2016 Project Compassion appeal was held at the Catholic Learning Community of Blessed John the XXIII and St Mark’s Catholic College, Stanhope Gardens.

Throughout the Lenten period Catholic Schools in western Sydney held various events to fundraise for the Project Compassion appeal.
Year 7 students of St Agnes Catholic High School, Rooty Hill pooled together and held a 'St Agnes Appreciation Day' where students purchased an appreciation certificate to pass onto a student and/or teacher who they believe have made a positive contribution to their schooling.
St Bernadette’s Primary, Lalor Park held a fundraiser during Catholic School's Week hosting a cake stall and raffle, which raised over $1000.
Our Lady of the Nativity Primary, Lawson held a Project Compassion fundraiser on St Patrick's Day.
Students from Delany College, Granville have been generously donating to Project Compassion, raising over $2000. From left to right: Year 11 students Hilary Lim, Divashna Kumar and Elisar Salameh busy counting the coins.

Students from the ACU Ubuntu program attended the ACU Blacktown Campus. They have engaged in an 8 week academic skills program to support them with successfully accessing the ACU Step Up Program next year. These University outreach opportunities are thanks to Carol Allen and Youssef Taouk, who continue to find opportunities to advocate for Sudanese and Refugee communities. We thank them for their tireless work and look forward to seeing the impact this program has on the future aspirations and self-efficacy of our young people.

Congratulations Savannah Tofaeono on your selection for the Australian Schoolgirls Rugby League Trials taking place in Townsville. Savannah is one of St Agnes’ very own talented Rugby League players. Her progress over the past few years has been incredible, and what she has accomplished in the world of Rugby League is truly inspiring. Savannah’s accomplishments on the field are impressive. She has been a key player for the St Agnes Rugby League team in the Panther Trophy competition over the past few years. Last season, she played a major role in helping our U16s girls team win the tournament despite playing one player short in every game, all while she was just 15 years old. This year, Savannah has participated in several representative trials, earning selection for the Parramatta Diocese team and subsequently the NSWCCC side. To help Savannah out on this huge achievement to get her to Townsville, we are asking for donations in the form of a gold coin or via the QKR App. So give generous if you can. Good luck Savannah!!! We are all cheering for you.

On the 12th of June, our school captains Angela and Ethan, alongside our Mission Leader Ruby, had the privilege of attending the LIFTED Leaders Bishop’s Breakfast. The morning featured an engaging keynote speaker who explored the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence on both society and faith. It was a valuable opportunity for our students to connect with other school leaders, members of the Catholic Church, and Jack De Groot, Executive Director of Schools. Through meaningful dialogue and shared insights, our student leaders came away inspired and empowered to lead positive change within our school and across the wider diocese

🧱 Year 12 Construction – Concreting in Action! On 5 June, our Year 12 Construction students at St Agnes Catholic High School rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on with a concreting project for the school garden beds. As part of their Set in Stone unit, students applied skills from their coursework—measuring, levelling, and pouring concrete—to create slabs that will be used by the Environmental Committee. The weather held out, and the teamwork was fantastic. A great example of classroom learning coming to life!
