World Karate Champion
20 Aug 2015

Tylisha has only been training Martial arts at Pollets Martial Arts Centre for just under 2 years. Throughout the year of 2014 she competed at the ISKA (International Sports And Karate Association) tournaments of over NSW, with great results and many first place prizes.
By the end of the year Tylisha had placed overall 1st place in three of her events which gained her selection for the ISKA Team Australia travelling to Florida for the worlds biggest Martial Arts Tournament of the year
Unfortunately Tylisha sustained a serious leg injury at training at the end of February, and didn't know if she would be able to make the Championship in Florida. Through extensive treatment and sheer determination Tylisha received the all clear to compete just 4 weeks before the US Open. Tylisha needed to training 5 days a week ahead to get fit and prepare for the competition.
Against high standards of competition, Tylisha achieved 1st place in Kata, 1st place in Clash Sparring (full contact), 3rd place in Continuous Sparring (full contact) and a participation medal in Point Sparring gaining herself two World titles.

This is a great achievement for Tylisha as she is only 14 and only been participating in the sport for a short time.
Due to the success in this competition Tylisha earned herself selection in the Australian Team to compete at the World Gojo Karate Championship in Auckland, New Zealand in November 2015.
Tylisha is very humble but dedicated and always shows great sportsmanship to both referees and fellow competitors.
Her family is very proud of her achievement as she has done her Family, Dojo, Community and Country proud.
Good luck in New Zealand Tylisha.

On Good Friday, we remember Christβs love shown through sacrifice. A love that calls us to stand with those who suffer, and to act with compassion and justice for all. As we reflect today, may we continue to walk together towards a more just world.

Today we remember Holy Thursday, the night of the Last Supper and the beginning of Jesusβ journey to the cross. We recall the gift of the Eucharist, where Jesus shared bread and wine and called us to love and serve one another. Jesus then went to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane. In deep anguish, He turned to the Father, surrendering to His will as His hour drew near, fulfilling the Scriptures. May we take time today to pause, pray, and stay close to Him. πβ¨
