St Agnes’ Girls in a League of their own
10 Oct 2018

St Agnes Catholic High School has claimed its second rugby league state schoolgirl title in three years after taking out the under-16 NSWRL schoolgirl championships at St Marys last month.
The girls’ tournament got off to the perfect start as they went undefeated through their three pool games before facing off against MacKillop Catholic College in the semi-final.
A scoring blitz from Otile Manakofua and Tyla Amiatu helped St Agnes to a dominant six tries-to-three victory as the girls secured a spot in the grand final for the third straight year.
The grand final saw St Agnes go head to head with Cronulla High School in a tough, back-and-forth clash.
The game came right down to the final siren with a missed late-game conversion from Cronulla all that separated the two teams.
“The girls put in such a big effort,” coach Chris Chavez said.
We’re not a sports school or anything but the girls work so well with each other and they always play the best that they can. They’re a really great bunch of girls.

💗 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐑𝐢𝐛𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐭 𝐀𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐬 💗 Today our staff came together to celebrate 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐑𝐢𝐛𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 with a lovely morning tea! It was fantastic to see everyone wearing pink in support of such an important cause. Thanks to the generosity of our staff and community, we raised 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 $𝟏,𝟓𝟎𝟎 to support breast cancer research and awareness. 💕👏 A huge thank you to Mrs Dass for organising the event, and to Mikayla Smith and her family, who have made beautiful pink ribbons for the whole school, an incredible effort they’ve continued for four years in a row! 🎀 We’d also like to thank Nina Shamoun and her family for baking a large pink cake for Ms Holland to cut on behalf of the staff, another wonderful tradition they’ve kept going for four years running. 🍰💗

👏 A big shoutout to our senior students, Arek, Sylvana, Sienna and Niyat, who recently volunteered with the 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐕𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦! They helped prepare food and travelled to Mount Druitt and Parramatta, serving around 50 people in one evening. It was a busy night filled with kindness, connection and service. These students truly showed the St Agnes values of compassion and dignity through their actions. We are proud of you! 💙💛
