St Agnes Catholic High School wins state title

St Agnes Catholic High School Year 7 & 8 Girls Rugby League Team beat Narrabeen High School in the grand final to win the State Championship last week.
‘It was a tough competition and the girls put in a massive effort during training days as well as competition days” coach Chris Chavez said.
Aided by tournament MVP, Tyla Amiatu, the team beat opponents from all regions in NSW, some who have specialised rugby league programs as part of their school curriculum.
The path to the grand final started in May when the girls won the Annual Panthers Cup, which allowed them to progress to the Legends Shield games as Penrith’s representatives.
“Our girls were inspired by the words from league legend Nathan Hindmarsh and Australian Jillaroo Simaima Taufa, who ran the water for them during their final pool game.
Chris Chavez said he was pleased to see all the hard work the girls put in at training pay off.
There cannot be enough words to describe how well this team has represented St Agnes Catholic High School. Principles of teamwork, sportsmanship, unity, acceptance and commitment are just a few to describe each member of this team. Each player fulfilled their roles way beyond expectations and their efforts resulted in them being able to call themselves the best Year 7/8 schoolgirl rugby league team in NSW.

𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟓 Last week, our Year 9 students had the opportunity to hear from local police officers who visited our school to speak about White Ribbon Day. Their message highlighted the importance of respect, healthy relationships, and standing up against violence in all its forms. We’re grateful to the officers for taking the time to engage with our students and for reinforcing how every young person can play a part in building a safer, more respectful community.

Day 1 – Year 5 High School Experience Day at St Agnes Today we welcomed our Year 5 students from our feeder primary schools for the first day of our annual High School Experience program. We are so proud of the energy, enthusiasm, and curiosity the students brought with them. These Experience Days are such an important opportunity for our primary students to get a true sense of the vibrant, welcoming, and dynamic learning community here at St Agnes. Throughout the day, students enjoyed a range of engaging activities, explored different learning spaces, and began to experience what high school life is like in our community. We look forward to another great day tomorrow!

The annual Murama Youth Summit was held at Sydney Olympic Park from 11th to 14th November this year. The Murama Youth Summit brings Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from our schools for days of Cultural sharing, celebration and learning. Shay-leigh Punter and Jai Hartley had the opportunity to learn from elders both local and visiting. They also had the opportunity to share aspects of their learning with students from one of our CSPD primary schools. On Thursday, November 13th Mrs Fielding and I were invited to a Cultural Community Celebration where Dr John Hunter spoke eloquently about our connection and kinship and how important it is for us to continue to appreciate and sustain Mother Earth. As a school community, we continue to connect with our local elders and immerse our emerging leaders in cultural protocols that will allow them to pass on knowledge to the next generation.
