LIFTED LIVE!!!!
03 Jul 2017
Catholic Youth Festival in December.
On Saturday, 13th May, Ms Reyes and Mr Sadsad, along with 7 students, attended the LIFTED LIVE event hosted by Catholic Youth Parramatta, featuring renowned Catholic ministry leader Steve Angrisano from the USA.
It was a spirit filled night with over 200 young people from the Parramatta Diocese where Steve shared his passionate message of faith for us all in his unique fusion of live music, humour and storytelling.
We were also able to watch a TED talk, delivered by his Holiness Pope Francis. His message for us all is that we are all accountable for the future we wish to see, that all the new developments we have made in science and technology are meaningless without regarding our humanity, solidarity and overcoming our ‘culture of waste.
And finally, we must seek to do good to others. Using the Parable of the Good Samaritan as an example, we must reach out with tenderness. Tenderness as Pope Francis defines “means to use our eyes to see the other, our ears to hear the other, to listen to the children, the poor, those who are afraid of the future...Tenderness means to use our hands and our heart to comfort the other, to take care of those in need.”
The night concluded with a powerful Adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
It was truly a fun and uplifting night for all that attended with all of us looking forward to the next live event. LIFTED live! events will be held several times throughout the year leading up to the Australian

Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese mourns the loss of former Executive Director of Schools Greg Whitby AM KSG. Diocese of Parramatta Bishop Vincent Long has shared a moving tribute to Greg here: https://catholicoutlook.org/vale-to-greg-whitby-am-former-executive-director-of-catholic-education/ Greg led our organisation, then known as Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta, from 2006 to 2022. He will be remembered fondly, including for his dedication to making a difference to the lives of children and young people across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains through education. Not only was Greg our leader, he was also one of our own: a graduate of St Monica's North Parramatta as well as a former Principal of Emmaus Catholic College Kemps Creek. A larger-than-life character, his championship of change and innovation was a source of inspiration. He leaves an extraordinary legacy of thought-leadership and advocacy that continues to serve Catholic schools in the Parramatta Diocese today. CSPD gives thanks for Gregβs life and leadership. He will be remembered for his courage, vision and passion, which will live on through the generations of educators he has inspired. We share our sincerest sympathies with Gregβs wife Sue, their children Matthew, Alexandra and Sophie, his grandchildren, and extended family at this very sad time. Eternal rest grant unto Greg, O Lord. May perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Homelessness is a growing issue in Australia, affecting thousands of individuals and families each night. Vinnies works tirelessly to provide practical assistance, dignity, and hope to those most in need β and we can play our part. We are asking each student to bring in clean, good-quality clothing donations to their homeroom. A nominated student from each class will then deliver the donations to the designated collection point in the office. Your generosity will help keep someone warm this winter and remind them they are not forgotten. A big thank you to our FIAT and Mini Vinnies students for leading this important initiative.
