100 year service of Mary Mackillops Consecration
18 Apr 2014

On Wednesday 19 March 2014 students and teachers from many schools within Australia took part in a very special Mass at the Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel Celebrating the 100th year Anniversary of the consecration of the Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel, North Sydney.
The Mass was lead by concelebrants Bishop Terry Brady, Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney, Father Ray Schmack and David Catterall.
At the end of the mass a representative from each participating school received a centenary candle to take back to their school community. The candle serves as a reminder to walk in the light of Christ and to carry that light into our world.
After the liturgy, Mr Shaun Coates and Mr West Melton buried a time capsule in the grounds of Mary MacKillop Place, With the hope that when the sisters open the time capsule in 2114, Mary MacKillop will be known by everyone across the world and that the Mary MacKillop chapel will still be a place of pilgrimage.

On 19 February, a group of our students had the opportunity to serve the community alongside Mr Mangion and Mrs Maloney. After preparing food at Vinnies in Greystanes, they distributed sandwiches, snacks and drinks to those in need in Mount Druitt and Parramatta. The experience was both humbling and meaningful, reminding us all of the importance of compassion, service and supporting those in our local community. π

Today, our school community gathered in prayer for Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the Lenten season at St. Agnes Catholic High School. With ashes traced in the sign of the cross and the words, βRemember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return,β we were reminded of our call to renewal, humility, and deeper faith. This sacred day invites each of us to pause, reflect, and begin again β turning our hearts toward God through prayer, fasting, and acts of charity. As we enter this Lenten journey together, may our school be strengthened in faith, united in love, and committed to living out the Gospel each day. Let us walk these forty days with purpose, preparing our hearts for the joy of Easter. #AshWednesday #Lent #StAgnes #FaithInAction
