This week we celebrate 100 years of the ANZAC tradition.

In remembrance of the many Australians who gave their lives in war, the St Agnes Community celebrated a commemorative ANZAC Day Ceremony today. It was a privilege to have Mrs Barbara Zarebska and Mr Burkhard Rogge attend our service and share their experiences of war and personal stories. Students listened in awe as they spoke of the hardships they encountered and of the ANZAC spirit and how Australian soldiers’ sense of courage, determination, fighting prowess and mateship has developed from the ANZAC tradition.

ANZAC Day is set aside for us to give collective thanks to all men and women who have put their lives at risk and in many cases paid the supreme price. It requires us to reflect on the past with pride and to look ahead and build on the achievements of our predecessors. By displaying the characteristics of the ANZAC spirit, comradeship, unselfishness, courage and tenacity of spirit, we can enrich the Australian tradition.
